My friends and I were getting a little stir crazy in Phoenix, so we decided to band together for a little getaway to San Diego. Being me, I was told myself that I HAD to get some beach images into my book. Arizona has plenty of beautiful people who can rock some beachwear, but we lack that gorgeous ocean thingy. It was my quest to find a local model to test with. That didn’t happen.
We stayed in Ocean Beach, my first time there, and it was awesome. It feels like a little beach town even though being a short distance from the heart of San Diego. I wanted to photograph everywhere! One of most fun things about working with and planning shoots with models though, especially freelance models, is the sudden dropoff of communication and/or no call/no shows. After that happened with several local models in the beginning of the week, I linked up with Monika. She happened to be in town vacationing from Vegas and wanted some beach images for her book as well. Two people from the desert doing a photoshoot on the beach. It was perfect.
On that Saturday morning we captured the image in the gallery below. I needed to get the pier image, but the goal for the rest of the photoshoot was to capture some fun and a commercial beach look à la Sports Illustrated.
Lighting consisted of the sun and a reflector. A special thank you to my home skillets, Mike and Tom for being my reflector men. Follow me and more of my work on Facebook and Instagram!
