Halloween has come and gone. I was a bearded lady; what were you? It’s my favorite holiday of the year, especially as a photographer, and for 2014 I decided to take on two projects to get into the photographic spirit! One of which was a small witch pin-up series featuring Kelcey Harris, who I met this year and couldn’t get over how fun she seemed (the other I’ll share as soon as it’s done)! It was a perfect match because we not only nailed exactly what I was looking for image-wise, but we had nothing but fun creating these images!
Lighting was pretty straightforward. We used one light above for a soft glow on top, one strip to the side with a fill reflector opposite of it, and an octa as the main light in the front. Basically, we created a box of light to be played in. Once lighting was locked down, I just tried to make Kelcey laugh and be silly as much as possible while balancing on the edge of a stool with a broom under her. The balancing took a little work, but the silliness did not…I guarantee that! Take a look at all of the final images below, and enjoy the fruits of our labor!
BONUS!!
I thought you would all enjoy seeing a before and after image, so check it out below! I try to get most of all my work in camera, but because this was conceptual, you get to see the kind of work I added in post to get the final look!
On makeup and hair was the lovely Ashley Nicole, and my grip for the day was my buddy Zach of Zishmael Photography. Enjoy, share, share, share, and follow me on Facebook! I’m always posting some form of new work there!
